Overview

This job posting is for a technical lead in D403, Technical Services. D403 is cognizant of the development, maintenance, and distribution of logistics technical data (LTD) for all submarine classes. LTD comprises of ship systems manuals, component technical manuals, steam and electric plant manuals, and maintenance and alteration documents.

The selected candidate will provide technical guidance and oversight of new and modified LTD. They will ensure the quality of interactive electronic technical manuals and guarantee that products are prepared in accordance with published procedures and processes. The selected candidate will regularly interface with various EB Engineering disciplines, shipyard organizations, and the Navy customer to resolve or better understand technical and programmatic issues. As needed, the candidate will attend kickoff meetings, evaluate designs, and provide department man-hour estimates for manual updates or other products as appropriate. In addition, they will work with supervision to determine priorities, develop schedules, and manage work load. Selected candidate will recommend and implement process improvement initiatives, as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required:

    Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • Served submarine qualified (SS) Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) or above ... OR
  • Served submarine qualified (SS) Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO) or above.
  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Microsoft Office computer skills.
  • Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Casciano/Gabriel).

Preferred:

  • Successful completion of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
  • Completion of a submarine department head tour or a submarine Engineering. Department Master Chief
  • (EDMC) tour.
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of non-propulsion electronics system (NPES) equipment is desired.
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of submarine hull, mechanical, and electrical (HM&E) systems (trim
  • system, high pressure air system, electrical distribution system, etc).
  • SECRET clearance.
Skills

Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work independently. Ability to plan, organize, and schedule work. Ability to direct others to accomplish tasks is required. A technical background in submarine systems and components and/or submarine operational experience is highly desired. Working knowledge of special emphasis programs (DSS-SOC, SUBSAFE, and Fly-by-Wire) requirements is desired. Working knowledge of submarine Logistics Technical Data (Ship System Manual, Technical Manuals, etc) is desired.
