Join our Engineering team in Danbury, CT as a Software Engineer! In this role, you will be involved with the design, development, analysis, testing, and debugging of embedded software applications and systems.
NPS offers a rare environment where projects are diverse; ranging from legacy systems designed in the 1980's to the latest technology, ensuring that engineers remain challenged by their work. Engineers are involved in shaping project concepts from the start; collaborate on designs; contribute through individual implementation efforts; and see the results of their accomplishments through completion of integration and test.
- Involved with the design, development, analysis, testing and debugging of computer software applications and/or systems which may include Image and Signal Processing, Real-time, Firmware, Nuclear/Hi-Rel, FAA Certified, Database Design, Operating Systems, Operator/Machine Interface, or others
- Develop software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools
- Determine hardware compatibility
- Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
- Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications
- May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments
- Ability to work independently under supervision of others
- Provide regular reporting of progress and status
- Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
- Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or Engineering + 1-2 years of related embedded software development experience
- Excellent communicator and collaborator
- Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
