The Emergency Physician maintains the unique skill of balancing clinical and technical excellence with compassion and kindness. Responsibilities

  • 1. Patient Care: Demonstrates excellence in the completion of patient history, physical exams, and assessments appropriate to patient population. Specific to Palliative Care: provides assessments and interventions for pain and non-pain symptoms, leads discussions regarding goals of care, facilitates family meetings and interdisciplinary conferences, and attends to all ways of alleviating distress and suffering for patients, families, and staff.
    • 1.1 Performs inpatient and outpatient consultations as requested by referring clinicians.
  • 2. Patient Care: Maintains the highest standard in quality of patient care:
    • 2.1 Demonstrates knowledge of clinical issues relevant to patients with serious illness and applies current models, theories, and evidence base to plan and implement care, as indicated by feedback from staff.
  • 3. Customer Service/Quality:
    • 3.1 Responds promptly and professionally to patients and employees
  • 4. Financial/Volume Results: Completes and submits billing and data reports in a timely fashion:
    • 4.1 Ensures billing codes accurately represent care provided.
  • 5. Quality Management:
    • 5.1 Contributes to the success of the organization by participating in quality improvement activities, both local and system wide.
  • 6. Safety/ Compliance:
    • 6.1 Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices.
  • 7. Education:
    • 7.1 Participates in Education Efforts at all levels including GME (for medical students, residents, fellows), Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, other supporting staff, and community.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

MD

EXPERIENCE

Board Certified in Primary Specialty Board Certification or Board Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine with expectation of completion of Board Certification within a reasonable time frame.

LICENSURE

Current Unrestricted CT medical license, DEA, CT Controlled Substance Registration (CSP)
