STS Technical Services is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Technician in Danbury, Connecticut.

Position Summary:

As a Senior Manufacturing Technician, you will play a crucial role in testing specialized monitoring equipment, focusing particularly on our Detectors area for the US Military.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interpret complex assembly drawings and written process instructions.
  • Utilize precision hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, wire strippers, crimpers, torque wrenches, and specialized fixtures for electromechanical assembly.
  • Configure pneumatic and hydraulic test stands according to procedures.
  • Set up test stands with various equipment including multi-meters, frequency generators, amplifiers, gauss meters, Insulation Resistance and Dielectric Meters, and data acquisition tools based on test specifications.
  • Prepare and apply Room Temperature Vulcanising (RTV), potting materials, paints, cements, and chemicals as needed.
  • Assess product returns for deviations from print and test specifications.
  • Contribute to Key Performance Indicators such as reducing defects, meeting production deadlines, and completing jobs within allocated hours.
  • Follow written documents including International Organization for Standardization (ISO) procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Military Specifications (MILSPEC), and safety protocols.
  • Adhere to safety and regulatory requirements, maintaining relevant certifications.
  • Operate machinery such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, band saws, drill presses, and grinders.
  • Handle high-pressure nitrogen gas using precision metering valves.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree and 2+ years of technical experience or equivalent field expertise.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Proficiency in safe chemical handling.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with Deltek is advantageous.
  • Prior exposure to the military or defense industry is a plus.
  • Additional skills such as winding coils, spot welding, and brazing are beneficial.
